Driving School

Rehabilitation Program

Being faced with losing our license for many, equates to a loss in our independence. Drivers with a disability, injury, medical condition, or who have age related changes, may be required to do an occupational therapy driving assessment by their treating doctor to determine the impact of the condition on safe driving. In some cases, driver rehabilitation and training or vehicle modifications may be required.
At Back on Track Occupational Therapy, an accredited Occupational Therapy driver assessor is able to assess, report and identify the impact of each person’s condition on their ability to drive safely and conduct a driver rehabilitation program where needed. In addition, they are able to recommend vehicle modifications and trials as required.

Car Modifications

Our OT Driver Assessor can help modify your car to suit your needs. There are many options for vehicle modifications for both drivers and passengers including:

  • spinner knobs

  • hand controls

  • high level electronic hand controls

  • left foot accelerators

  • transfer aids

  • wheelchair access

  • wheelchair stowage hoists

Additionally, they will be able to assist and guide you through any trials, on-road assessments and ensure that your vehicle modifications are suitable for current needs whilst also planning for the future.
